Adobe Photoshop is a raster graphics editor developed and published by Adobe Systems for Windows and OS X.
it was developed in 1988 by Thomas and John Knoll. ever since, photoshop has become essential in raster graphics editing, such that the terms "photoshopping" and "photoshop contest" were born. It can edit and compose raster image in many layers and supports masks,and several colours models including RGB, CMYK. Photoshop has many support for graphic file formats but also uses its own PSD and PSB file formats which support all the prior features. furthermore to raster graphics, it has limited features to edit text, vector graphics "especially through clipping path", 3D graphics and video. Photoshop's feature set can be expanded by Photoshop plug-ins, programs created and distributed separately of Photoshop that can run with the program and has more enhanced features.
Adobe photoshop has different versions with only a slight changes. the versions include cs3,cs4,cs5 and currently cs6 which was released in May 2012, new features were added for creative design tools and provided an improved interface with a focus on upgrade performance.New features have been added to the Content-Aware tool such as the Content-Aware Patch and Content-Aware Move.

As the case maybe, the most essential element of the Photoshop interface is the toolbar. It contains a group of icons that represent the different tools of Photoshop. These include tools for selecting areas of images, stretching, changing the colours of the editing image, transforming, and erasing parts of editing image, e.t.c.
